In Queensland, residential building work valued over $3,300 (including labour and materials) must be carried out by a contractor holding the relevant licence and covered by a written DBC (Domestic Building Contract, the formal agreement that sets out scope, price and terms). Wet-area waterproofing is regulated building work and must be done to Australian Standard AS 3740. Verify a contractor's licence and read your contract rights with the Queensland regulator.
